Thunder Part Owner Aubrey McClendon Killed in Car Crash


One day after being hit with charges of conspiring to rig oil bids in Oklahoma, former Chesapeake Energy CEO (and Oklahoma City Thunder part owner) Aubrey McClendon was found dead Wednesday morning after a car crash.

McClendon crashed into an embankment while traveling at a “high rate of speed” in Oklahoma City on Wednesday morning, said Capt. Paco Balderrama of the Oklahoma City Police Department. McClendon’s vehicle was engulfed in flame, he said.

“He pretty much drove straight into the wall,” Balderrama said.
McClendon’s car was the only one involved — ESPN’s Royce Young tweeted a photo of his vehicle:
