The Evolution Of Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner is the beautiful heartthrob who came out of nowhere and stole all of our hearts as a Sharkboy and a Wolf-man. But where did he start and where has he gone now? Well, it’s definitely time to find answers to these questions.

Are you still aboard #TeamJacob? Because it’s full steam ahead!

1. Taylor Lautner began his acting career with small TV parts.

Appearing on shows like The Bernie Mac Show, Summerland, and My Wife and Kids in 2003-2004. He also earned some voice-over roles for shows like¬†Danny Phantom and What’s New, Scooby Doo?

2. Taylor spent a lot of years growing up dedicated to karate and other sports.

He had already earned his black belt by age 8, and his physical skill would carry on into his acting career.

3. By 2005, Taylor had landed his first starring role in a major film.

Playing the titular Sharkboy in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, Taylor Lautner’s karate skills impressed director Robert Rodriguez so much that he was allowed to choreograph all of his own fight scenes.

4. Then came probably the most important role of Lautner’s career thus far: Jacob.

At first a lot of Twilight¬†fans didn’t like the fact that he was cast as Jacob Black, but everyone came around. It was a turning point for him, and he was nominated for Male Breakthrough Performance at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

But that was only the beginning for Taylor.

5. Because of the massive changes to Jacob Black between the first two books, Jacob was going to be recast.

Director Chris Weitz wanted someone larger for Jacob, so Lautner dedicated himself to physical training and gained 30 lbs of muscle to keep the role. His dedication paid off with him not only keeping the part, but being credited with a large part of the sequel’s huge success.

6. Over the course of filming the Twilight series, Lautner also starred in other films.

He worked on films like Valentine’s Day and Abduction. While neither were nearly as successful as Twilight, it was still good to see Lautner diversifying his roles.

7. By the end of filming the Twilight Saga, Lautner had made quite the splash in Hollywood.

Everyone knew he was the highest paid teen actor, and he was #2 on Glamour‘s Sexiest Man Alive list. You could hardly go anywhere without hearing about Taylor Lautner.

8. While Lautner isn’t all over the place in Hollywood right now, he hasn’t disappeared off the radar.

With film roles such as The Ridiculous 6 and starring in the BBC comedy Cuckoo, Lautner is keeping busy. He’s also still close with Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, appearing with her at the premiere for her filmAmerican Ultra.

So while Taylor Lautner has left the Twilight Saga, we know he has never really left our hearts.

Remember to stay true to #TeamJacob always!
